WINTER DRIVING

The Illinois State Police District 14 in Macomb is reminding drivers of
information available to assist their winter travel.

Safety Education Officer, Trooper Ed Howard says that ISP will not advise
motorists whether or not to travel. That decision must be made by
the individual.

The ISP District 14 provides a road condition hotline with information for
roadways within Henderson, Warren, Hancock, McDonough and Fulton
Counties. The information is updated several times a day and the
number to call is 309-833-4613.

The ISP can also be accessed at isp.state.il.us. That site also provides
information on driving in a winter storm, the effects of cold weather
and strategies for winter survival.

Trooper Howard says the safest place to be in a winter storm is home.
Travel only if you must. If you drink, don't drive and remember to
always buckle up-every trip, every time.

DREW PETERSON TRIAL

The disappearance of Drew Peterson's fourth wife is dominating a hearing
concerning the death of his third wife.

The hearing continues Tuesday in Will County Circuit Court to determine
whether "hearsay" evidence will be allowed during Peterson's trial
for the 2004 death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio. Peterson is
charged with first degree murder and has pleaded not guilty.

On Monday, neighbor Sharon Bychowski sobbed as she testified that
Peterson's fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, told her she was convinced
Peterson would kill her. Stacy Peterson disappeared in 2007.

Prosecutors aren't saying why they're focusing on that case. Peterson
has been named a suspect but hasn't been charged in her dis-
appearance.
