"SLR" Digital Photography Course

This class is designed for the student who uses a Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera with interchangeable lenses. (This class is NOT designed for point and shoot cameras.) This class will teach you how to understand all the various settings, including ISO, correct aperture and shutter speed.
This is an excellent class for anyone wishing to purchase their first SLR camera, or the beginner using their new camera. If you are interested in learning to take professional photographs, this class might be for you!

Classes will be instructed by Bob Coker. Bob has been using digital photography since 1996 and photographing since 1973. If you have any questions for the instructor, please contact him at bob@cokerphotos.com.

Food Service Certification Course

A foodservice sanitation certification class will be held Wednesday, January 11th and Thursday, January 12th from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Spoon River College Macomb Community Outreach Center.

The Illinois State Department of Public Health Food Service Sanitation Code requires that all food service establishments that prepare and serve food shall be under operational supervision of a certified manager. One certified person must be on the premises at all times. All establishments which serve food must complete 15 hours of instruction from a licensed Sanitation instructor and then successfully pass the Illinois State Food Service Sanitation exam.

This course covers up-to-date information on safe food handling, preparation, food storage, personal hygiene, and the prevention of food borne illnesses. The Illinois State Food Service Sanitation exam will be given at the end of this course.

Those seeking the five-hour refresher can sign up to attend on Thursday, January 12th from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Participants must provide a copy of their current State of Illinois certificate.

Quincy Table Tennis Club

The Quincy Table Tennis Club is seeking interested players for their Winter league play. Competition takes place at the Quincy Park Dist weekly starting the week of January 16 till the week of March 26. Knox College Open House

Knox College will host a free Open House for high school juniors and seniors and their families on Monday, January 16.

The Open House includes class visits; guided tours of academic, athletic and residential facilities; and workshops and informational sessions with faculty, admission and financial aid counselors, coaches and students.

Also on January 16, Knox will hold its annual free, public Martin Luther King Day Convocation. Konrad Hamilton, associate professor of history and chair of American Studies, will give the convocation address.
