Bushnell Water

The City of Bushnell has issued a boil order for several locations, effective immediately. The boil order is for the 900 block of Miller St North to 1900th Road, the west side of the trailer park and the 500 block of E. Hess St until further notice.

Colchester Arrest

A Colchester woman was arrested Tuesday morning following an altercation with a minor. At 11 a.m. yesterday the McDonough County Sheriffs Department responded to a call at North Elizabeth Street, where 21 year old Samantha McLeish allegedly struck a 13 year old female. McLeish was charged with aggravated battery. She was also arrested last Friday on a charge of child endangerment.

District 14

Due to a recent initiative, District 14 of the Illinois State Police reports fatalities and traffic violations have been reduced on rural roads. In conjunction with area counties sheriffs departments, District 14 implimented "Operation Blacktop" by increasing its present on coutry roadways. The first six months of 2010 yielded 130 less tickets than the first half of 2009. In terms of traffic related deaths, there have only been three thus far in 2010 compared to five each in 2008 and 2009, seven in 2007 and 14 in 2006. District 14 Commander Robert Elliott said that enforcement along blacktop roads will continue in the future, hoping the numbers will drop more with each passing year.
