Cincinnati- Terrell Owens is expected to atted the opening of the Cincinnati
Bengals' training camp tomorrow after agreeing to a contract with the team.
The 36 year old wide receiver has 1,006 catches for 14,951 yards and 144
touchdowns since breaking into the NFL with the San Franciso 49ers in
1996. He grabbed 55 passes for 829 yards and five TDs for Buffalo last
season before becoming a free agent.
Foxbourough, Mass- The New England Patriots say they've placed wide
reciever Wes Welker on the acive/physically unable to perfom list. The pats
say Welker has made a strong recovery from knee surgery in February and
could come off the list at any time.
Columbus,Ohio- Former Raiders All-Pro safety Jack Tatum has died at the
age of 61, according to a friend and former Ohio teammate. John Hicks
says the man nicknamed "The Assassin" for his bone jarring tackles died of
a heart attack Tuesday in Oakland. Tatum is best known for his hit that
paralyzed Darryl Stingley in an NFL preseason game in 1978.
MLB
Washington- The Washington Nationals say they were just being cautious by
scraching Stephen Strasbug from last nights start against Allanta. Strasburg
was replaced by Miguel Batista after having truoble getting loose in the
bulllpen. Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo says Strasburg has been
diagnosed with inflammation in his pitching shoulder, adding that an MRI and
X-ray show no structural damage.
MLB
Chicago- The Chicago White Sox have handed the visiting Seattle Mariners
their worst loss of the season. Alexei Ramirez, Andruw Jones and Paul
konerko homered as the White Sox beat the struggling Mariners 11-0 last
night. Ramirez and Jones drove in three runs each.
Houston- The Chicago Cubs have dropped a game at Houston, 6-1. Brett
Myers pitched a complete game for the Astros, who got a grand slam from
Lance Berkman. Cubs starter Ted Lilly allowed only five hits and had eight
strikeouts in just under six innings before he was replaced by Andrew
Cashner.
New York- The New York Mets have ended St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright's
career best scoreless streak at 26 innings. The Mets roughed up Wainwright
in an 8-2 romp over the visiting Cardinals. Wainwright was tagged for six
runs.
